UPDATE: Injuries unknown, traffic moving after multiple crashes on Highway 5

3 crashes were reported in a 10 minute period

Update 12:20 p.m.

Highway 5 has been cleared after a multiple car crashes slowed traffic through the late morning. 

An air ambulance responded to one of the collisions believed to involved multiple vehicles including a semi truck. 

It is unknown how many people were injured or what the extent of those injuries are. 

Original 10:20 a.m.

Multiple car crashes has slowed traffic on Highway 5 north of Merritt. 

Crews were dispatched to three crashes near Helmer Road just before 9:30 a.m.

Two of the crashes were called in at 9:22 a.m. One of the two collisions has been cleared. 

The third is being reported as a vehicle rollover reported at 9:26 a.m.

Emergency crews remain on scene through the area. Drivers are reminded to move over and slow down around crash sites. 

There are no weather alerts for the Coquihalla, however, conditions are being reported as wet and slippery between Merritt and Kamloops.
