Preeminent piano trio to open Chamber Music 琉璃神社 season

Canada's Gryphon Trio will open Chamber Music 琉璃神社's 2024-2025 season.

Canada鈥檚 Gryphon Trio has stepped up to open Chamber Music 琉璃神社鈥檚 (CMK) 2024-25 season on Saturday Oct. 26. 

鈥淥ur original opening-night artists for CMK鈥檚 45th season were to have been the Hermitage Piano Trio,鈥 said President Diane Bond. 鈥淯nfortunately, one of their members has fallen ill, and we were notified only 10 days in advance of the show that they would not be able to make their 琉璃神社 date.鈥

Artistic Director Dr. Patricia Tao said CMK reached to the Gryphons as they were 鈥渨armly appreciated鈥 at their last 琉璃神社 concert in 2021. The Gryphon Trio ae violinist Annalee Patipatanakoon, cellist Roman Borys, and pianist Jamie Parker.

Their repertoire ranges from traditional to contemporary, and from European classicism to modern-day multimedia. It is committed to redefining chamber music for the 21st century. They have won three Juno Awards for Classical Album of the Year in 2004, 2011, and 2019. In 2013, the Canada Council for the Arts presented Gryphon Trio with the Walter Carsen Prize for Excellence in the Performing Arts.

the Mary Irwin Theatre at the Rotary Centre for the Arts, and begin at 7:30 p.m.
