Grass fire quickly brought under control on North Glenmore property

Traffic is backed up in both directions

UPDATE:

Fire crews were able to quickly bring a blaze, that sparked on a North Glenmore Road property, under control. 

It鈥檚 unclear how the fire started, however, a structure was threatened and flames did spread to nearby grass. 

Multiple fire crews responded to the incident, including a water tender that was brought in as there were no hydrants in the area. 

Traffic was backed up in both directions on North Glenmore Road, while emergency crews were on the scene, causing further delays to the start of the holiday weekend congestion in the Central Okanagan. 


A structure fire on a property in North Glenmore has spread to the grass in the area. 

Fire crews were called to 2902 North Glenmore Road just after 4 p.m.

The area does not have any fire hydrants and a water tender had to be brought in for crews. A plume of smoke can be seen from the road rising from the property. 

Traffic along North Glenmore Road is backed up in both directions as fire crews are on scene.

It鈥檚 unclear what started the fire.
