The City of West 琉璃神社 is getting a chunk of more than $37 million in federal funding to fast-track 233 homes in the next three years.

The Housing Accelerator Fund (HAF) will provide $7.9 million to the city, which will also spur the construction of 780 homes in the next 10 years.

鈥淭he City of West 琉璃神社 has been hard pressed to keep pace with rapid growth and we are very grateful to the Government of Canada and CMHC鈥檚 Housing Accelerator Fund for providing much needed funding support,鈥 said Mayor Gord Milsom.

The city鈥檚 initiatives includes increasing infill housing, fast-tracking standardized housing designs, and zoning updates to encourage more rental, affordable and missing middle housing.

Other municipalities, and First Nations, receiving funds include:

  • $9,454,000 for the Squamish Nation for 131 homes;
  • $3,403,996 for the Musqueam Indian Band for 46 homes;
  • $16,632,970 for the City of Maple Ridge for 480 homes.

Launched in March 2023, the HAF is a $4.4 billion initiative from the Government of Canada that will run until 2027-28.
