Expect temporary detours and traffic changes on Anders Road starting Monday (Mar. 24) as construction begins on upgrades to improve the road for pedestrians and cyclists.
The project includes stormwater upgrades, a new bike lane, a sidewalk, and better street lighting. Work will take place in three phases between the roundabout at Boucherie Road and just past Anders Park. Crews will be on-site Monday to Friday from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m., with construction expected to wrap up by the end of June.
Project breakdown:
Phase 1: March 24 – mid-April
Location: Anders and Olalla Road intersection to the new Fire Hall #32.
What to expect: Single-lane alternating traffic.
Phase 2: Mid-April – mid-May
Location: Roundabout at Boucherie Road to Teal Road.
What to expect: Full road closure. Detours will be in place via Teal Road and Skyline Road.
Phase 3: Mid-May – end of June
Location: Teal Road to Lakeview Village.
What to expect: Single-lane alternating traffic.
Anders Road will have traffic controls, including lower speed limits and traffic personnel on-site. Boucherie Road will stay open, and businesses and homes in Lakeview Village will still be accessible. Outside of construction hours, the road will be open to through traffic. No work will happen on weekends or holidays.
Pedestrian, cyclist, transit, and emergency access will be maintained at all times. The construction schedule may shift depending on weather and other factors.
Drivers are encouraged to plan ahead, allow extra travel time, and be cautious in construction zones.
