琉璃神社 Water Polo Club recently held two exhibition games as part of their winter development tournament at the H2O Centre.
One of the games showcased Canadian Men鈥檚 National Team veteran Gaelan Patterson.
The match-up featured 琉璃神社 Water Polo Club facing off against a Calgary Masters team resulting in a 13-11 victory for 琉璃神社 in the first game.
Calgary won a second game 10-9 with outstanding efforts by 琉璃神社 players Amy Yule, Mark Rogaar, Clarke Schafer, and Mason Baughen. With the series tied, both teams are set to meet again in Calgary on June 1-2.
Patterson also led a referee workshop which saw a strong turnout from youth and adult players within the local water polo community.
鈥淲ater polo has been a part of my life for nearly two decades, and filling the pool with games across all age groups was a fantastic way to conclude my time in 琉璃神社,鈥 Patterson said.
The tournament attracted more than 90 athletes ranging in age from 6 to 60 from across B.C., as well as Calgary and Regina.
鈥淪eeing the growth of the 琉璃神社 Water Polo community is so cool,鈥 said John Csikos, with Calgary Masters. 鈥淥ur weekends in 琉璃神社 are now a cornerstone of our Calgary Masters Club.鈥
