Okanagan Sun remain undefeated in BC Football Conference

The Okanagan Sun beat the Westshore Rebels 33-30 on Saturday, Aug. 10, 2024.

The Okanagan Sun are the only undefeated team in the BC Football Conference (BCFC) after they beat the Westshore Rebels on Aug. 10.

They pulled off a 33-30 come-from-behind win at Starlight Stadium in Langford, putting up 17 points in the fourth quarter.

The Sun were down 28-16 early in the fourth and were forced to give up a safety to make it 30-16 Rebels. The comeback started with quarterback Marek Filipek, replacing Liam Kroeger in the fourth, who handed off to Elelyon Noa for his second touchdown of the game making the score 30-23.

The Sun tied the game on an interception and touchdown by defensive back Easton Fenske with just over nine minutes to play. Liam Attwood kicked a field goal to make it 33-30 with just over three minutes to go.

There was no coming back for Westshore as Sun defensive back Ahmed Borhot picked up his third interception of the game a few minutes later.

Noa rushed for 127 yards on 24 carries with two touchdowns. Jordayne Falconer had 42 yards on one pass reception, and Sam Melanson went 27 yards on three receptions with a touchdown.

The Sun is 4-0 and they sit atop the BCFC standings. Their next game is Saturday, Aug. 17 at the Apple Bowl against the Prince George Kodiaks.
