The Conservative Party platform otherwise makes no reference to 2SLGBTQ+ issues or the rights of the community.

A national 2SLGBTQIA+ political advocacy organization is calling out the Conservative Party of Canada for an "anti-trans" plank in its platform.

Conservative Leader Pierre Poilievre released the party's full platform on Tuesday morning in Woodbridge, Ont., outlining what it describes as its "."

Included in the platform is a section on restoring public safety, which includes repealing . The Government of Canada describes this directive as applicable to gender-diverse offenders, ensuring that their human rights are respected and that their safety and dignity, as well as the safety of others in institutions and the community, are protected.

The Conservative Party platform states the directive "allows male offenders to be housed in women鈥檚 prisons."

The organization, Queer Momentum, released a statement Tuesday (April 22) saying it was "shocked and dismayed" by this.

"This commitment, if enacted, would place transgender women at increased risk of violence and harm in an already-violent criminal justice system," it reads.

The party also wants to "ensure that women鈥檚 spaces and services remain protected in federal institutions and policy," reads the platform.

鈥淭his is ludicrous. The Conservative Party of Canada platform only mentions women four times 鈥 with three of those mentions related to an anti-trans policy pledge. This isn鈥檛 what Canadians want or need from our politicians or political parties.鈥 Fae Johnstone, executive director of Queer Momentum, said. 鈥淭his is a Trumpian approach to politics 鈥 pitting women against transgender people 鈥 instead of advancing concrete measures to address the violence, discrimination and inequality both women and transgender Canadians experience.鈥

The Conservative Party platform otherwise makes no reference to 2SLGBTQIA+ issues or the rights of the community.

The Liberal Party of Canada and New Democratic Party platforms both mention protecting the rights of 2SLGBTQIA+ Canadians.

The it will stand up for the Canadian Charter of Rights and Freedoms, "protecting the values it was founded on, which are under threat, and ensuring the protection of our most vulnerable people." It will also make funding permanent for the 2SLGBTQIA+ Community Capacity Fund.

The NDP platform states, "We would take new steps to protect diversity in Canada, including supporting 2SLGBTQI+ communities who are increasingly subjected to hate and to violence."
