A teenaged driver was clocked doing double the speed limit in a high-priced car by Oak Bay police.

Oak Bay officers were conducting "summertime counter-attack enforcement" in the area of Newport Avenue and Beach Drive Wednesday, Aug. 14  when they observed a northbound vehicle travelling over double the speed limit.

A traffic stop was conducted after radar clocked the vehicle travelling at 90 km/h in a 40 km/h zone.

The driver was identified as an 18-year-old woman, driving with a class 7 novice driver's licence, according to a release from Oak Bay police, adding her father, the registered owner of the vehicle, was in the passenger seat.

The woman was issued a $368 ticket for driving at excessive speed and the 2024 Porsche Macan was towed and impounded for seven days.
