Close to 15,500 advance votes cast in Penticton-Summerland

Most votes cast locally on Oct. 10, when more than 4,000 visited the polls

As it was province-wide, advance voter turnout was up in Penticton-Summerland ahead of the 2024 B.C. election.

A total of 15,452 voters cast their ballots in the provincial riding during the recent six-day advance polling phase, according to Elections BC. That's up from the 12,120 advance votes cast locally in 2020.

The most votes were cast on Oct. 10 (3,819), the first day of advance voting.

On the final day of the advance phase, on Oct. 16, a total of 3,368 residents voted.

Polling stations were open from Oct. 10 to 13, and then again on Oct. 15 and 16.

A record 1,001,331 British Columbians have already cast votes ahead of the 2024 election, a more than 30 per cent increase from 2020 when 671,231 took part in advance polling. 

General election day is Saturday, Oct. 19.
