A fire was sparked in Coldstream Monday, Aug. 20.

A fire sparked in the trees off Aberdeen Road Monday night spread across a "significant" space before crews were able to douse it.

Coldstream and Lavington firefighters were dispatched around 9:45 p.m. to the area near Venables Drive Aug. 19.

"There were multiple trees on fire, a pretty significant chunk of space actually, and it had actually crossed Aberdeen Road and was burning on the other side also," said fire chief Fiona Morgenthaler-Code. "We had 25 firefighters on scene and we worked pretty hard to knock it down.

"The embers were blowing everywhere so we had to soak everything."

While there were some homes not too far away, none were damaged. A vehicle with a tent sustained some damage.

The cause is currently under investigation.

Meagan Bucar could see the flames from her home and was impressed with the quick action.&苍产蝉辫;&苍产蝉辫;路&苍产蝉辫;

"Wow what a response! It was out as quick as it went up! We have an amazing fire department!"
