UPDATE:
West 琉璃神社 Fire Crews jumped into action to save a family鈥檚 cats in a Glenrosa blaze.
Crews were called to reports of flame and smoke visible from a residence on Glenway Road in the Glenrosa area Friday afternoon.
鈥淔irst arriving crews from Westbank found heavy fire and smoke coming from one unit of a three-unit building,鈥 explained Fire Chief Jason Brolund.
鈥淭hey quickly knocked down the fire and commenced a search for occupants inside the building and none were found.鈥
Firefighters from Lakeview Heights and Glenrosa also worked hard to ensure that the fire did not spread to the other two connected units. Damage was contained to one suite.
鈥淭oday鈥檚 extremely hot temperatures were a factor for firefighters battling the blaze. Crews were able to rescue three of the four cats from the building,鈥 said Brolund.
鈥淭he fourth cat was seen and firefighters will continue the process to locate it for the occupant.鈥
Because power to the building was affected, all three units have been displaced and Brolund said all affected have been offered support from Emergency Support Services.
A fire investigation will be conducted in the coming days to determine a possible cause.
