After a recent dog attack in Silver Creek, the Columbia Shuswap Regional District (CSRD) assured residents that appropriate action was being taken.

On Thursday, Oct. 3, a community forum on Facebook reported that known problem dogs attacked a woman on her bike, and appealed for a response to what is allegedly an ongoing issue. An Oct. 4 media release from the CSRD acknowledged the incident and confirmed the case is being addressed.

"The situation was already under investigation after complaints to the CSRD," it says, adding that further details can't given at this time as the investigation is ongoing. "However, we acknowledge the seriousness of the situation and are committed to ensuring appropriate actions will be taken following a thorough investigation.

"The CSRD is currently working closely with the RCMP to make sure all necessary steps are followed to address this incident."

The release also asks anyone who witnessed the attack to submit relevant information through the dog control complaint form available on the website at .

Silver Creek residents have also organized a community walk for the injured woman as a "peaceful protest" at 4:30 Friday, Oct. 4, and again on Saturday in the early afternoon.
