Armstrong's population is about to explode over the next five days.
With the IPE underway Wednesday, Aug. 28 to Sunday, Sept. 1, an influx of visitors will be flocking to the fair.
With it, comes some parking problems.
"The City of Armstrong requires all drivers to park legally to ensure the safety of the community," said community services manager Warren Smith.
Armstrong provides two public parking lots, one on Wood Avenue and another on Pleasant Valley Boulevard.
There are also community groups that use additional parking lots as a fundraiser, charging minimal fees for the day.
"These non-profits are integral to our community and rely on this event for the continued success of their organizations," said Smith. "We encourage fairgoers to set a good example for each other, follow the parking regulations, be kind to each other and help make the IPE Fair and Rodeo an enjoyable and safe event for all."
During the IPE, parking violations are subject to vehicles being towed and/or a ticket issued for the following parking violations:
• Parking in a no-parking zone (designated by the city)
• Parked within three metres of a driveway
• Obstructing while parked (parking on a street with a centre line except in clearly marked parking spaces)
• Parking within six meters of an intersection or stop sign
• Parking within 15 meters of a railway track
• Parking within five meters of a fire hydrant
"These regulations are necessary to help ensure public safety, keep traffic moving and to allow access for emergency response vehicles. Please park your vehicle legally."
