A fire in Cawston on B.C. Day, Aug. 5, was contained to a single bedroom.
The fire on Coutlhard Road was reported at 7:13 p.m. after the homeowner, who was working outside at the time, was alerted by the smoke alarm going off.
The Keremeos Volunteer Fire Department, FortisBC, RCMP and BC Emergency Health Services responded to the call.
The fire department sent four vehicles and 17 firefighters, who were able to keep the flames from spreading to the rest of the structure.
There were no injuries, and the young family did have fire insurance.
The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
