Debris burns are planned for wildfire affected areas of Ts煤tswecw Provincial Park.

Through November, the BC Wildfire Service (BCWS) will be supporting BC Parks in conducting a fuel management project in the park by the Flume Trail system along Holding Road. Work was anticipated to begin as early as Wednesday, Nov. 6.

"Crews will be working on danger tree falling, bucking, and creating piles of debris to burn on both sides of Holding Road," said the BCWS in a media release, adding BC Parks will continue this project into the spring of 2025.

"This project is taking place in order to remove the accumulation of hazardous fuels due to previous wildfire activity in the area," explained the BCWS. "The piles will be continuously created as the project moves forward by using the debris in the area.

"The purpose of this project is for post wildfire risk reduction and to prepare impacted areas for capital infrastructure replacement activities scheduled to rehabilitate the affected areas for future public use."

Smoke from piles may be visible to residents in the Anglemont-Squilax and Lower Adams Lake communities, and to those travelling along Holding Road, said the BCWS, adding burning would proceed only when conditions are favourable.
