This section of Highway 7 (Lougheed Highway) was shut down due to a rockslide on Nov. 14, 2024.

Update: 12:30 p.m.

Highway 7 near Hope is still closed thanks to a Thursday evening (Nov. 14) rockslide.

DriveBC is asking drivers to take Highway 1 as Highway 7 is still closed in both directions, due to rocks covering the area between 7 Day Adventist Youth Camp (Camp Hope) and Ross Road.

An assessment is in progress and the next update on the highway will be on Friday (Nov. 15) at 6 p.m.

Delays were caused Friday morning for students, of the Fraser-Cascade School District 78, whose bus routes were affected by the slide. Seabird Island First Nation (SIFN) also put out a press release about the event.

"Fortunately, no injuries have been reported at this time. Please exercise caution and plan your travelling accordingly," SIFN said.

The cause of the rockslide is unknown at this time.

Updates to follow.

Both lanes of the highway were shut down. An update on the highway is due at noon, Nov. 15.

Drivers in the area should expect delays due to congestion as motorists seek alternate routes.
