Pop-up recycling depots are in Lumby the first Saturday of each month.

Lumby residents with recycling piling up since the loss of the local bottle depot a year ago have a chance to clean out their carports and sheds.

A pop-up recycling depot is coming to the Lumby Curling Club parking lot Saturday, Aug. 3 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.

It's been one-year since Venture Training sold the Lumby Bottle Depot and it was shut down.

The depot operated a number of recycling programs which has left a significant gap in the area.

"Recycle BC is stepping up to address the gap in the Lumby area by providing Pop-Up recycling events," according to the the Regional District of North Okanagan.

From June to October, Recycle BC is teaming up with Planet Earth Recycling Ltd. to provide pop-up recycling depot events on the first Saturday of each month.

The events will accept all Recycle BC packaging and paper product materials for free (including mixed paper, cardboard, glass bottles and jars, plastic and metal containers, flexible plastics and foam packaging). More information on these depots can be found at .
