Salmon Arm RCMP located and seized a repainted pickup truck stolen in Armstrong on July 26, 2024.

A local woman is facing a court date after Salmon Arm RCMP located a recently repainted pickup truck stolen out of Armstrong.

The vehicle, an older Dodge Ram, was located around 8 p.m. on July 26 by an officer patrolling in the area of 4th Street SE, said Const. Andrew Hodges in a media release, noting the vehicle "appeared to have been freshly, but poorly, spray painted a primer grey colour."

The officer was aware that a truck of similar make and model had been reported stolen in Armstrong the day prior.

"The licence plate showed (it was) registered to a newer white Dodge Ram, and the driver鈥檚 door had been damaged, raising the officer鈥檚 suspicions that the vehicle was stolen," said Hodges. The officers checked the Ram's vehicle identification number and confirmed it was the stolen vehicle.

"Police found some identification in the truck belonging to a 32-year-old female," said Hodges. "That same woman then exited a nearby residence and began yelling at police that the vehicle was hers."

The woman was arrested for possession of property obtained by crime, and later released with a future court date. The vehicle was seized and Hodges said several grams of suspected drugs were located in the truck.
