BX-Swan Lake firefighters have extinguished a small grass fire at a property on McLeish Road, off East Vernon Road.
The call came shortly after 1:30 p.m. Friday, March 6.
"I talked to the property owner and he said he was burning some dead grass, the wind picked up, and it got out of hand, but he was able to contain it before the firefighters arrived," said Morning Star reporter Brendan Shykora from the property.
The firefighters are doing a perimeter check of the property, and creating a guard line, ensuring everything is fine. Shykora said the firefighters are also using the fire as a training opportunity for some new members.
