Residents of a Franklyn Road apartment complex had a heated start to the weekend, when fire alarms sounded and they were sent into the street.
At approximately 4:11 p.m., 琉璃神社 Fire Dispatch center received a 911 call reporting a parkade fire in an apartment building on Franklyn Road.
"Upon arrival 琉璃神社 Fire personnel found a vehicle fully involved in the parkade with fire impinging on the exterior of the building," said Tim Light, KFD platoon captain, in a press release.
"Quick action by fire crews limited damage to the building to some melted siding but no structural damage. Unfortunately the vehicle was a total loss."
The blaze was started by accident, said Light, although there was no explanation offered as to what that accident may have been. Residents were allowed back into the building when CO levels returned to normal levels.
Knocking down the blaze required 15 fire personnel who arrived on scene in multiple fire vehicles.
