A UBC Okanagan professor wants to address head-on the skepticism about the science behind climate change.
Greg Garrad will host a panel discussion on international perspectives on climate change, to take place at the ÁðÁ§ÉñÉç ARt Gallery, 115 Water St., on Tuesday, June 7, 6 p.m.
Garrard, with the faculty of creative and critical studies sustainability at UBCO, is hosting a three-day workshop on this issue at the university, one component of which will be the public forum.
Garrard’s workshop involves a team of international humanities researchers who will examine climate skepticsand the questions surrounding the debate on climate change: Who are they? What view of science and nature do they hold? Are they all conservatives? Is there any meaningful difference between ‘skepticism’ and ‘denialism’? How does climate skepticism vary between nations?
The forum is open to the public but there is a registration fee. To find out more details, and to register for the workshop, contact greg.garrard@ubc.ca by Monday, June 30.
