Sicamous RCMP seized over 80 grams of illegal drugs believed to consist of fentanyl, cocaine and meth during a traffic stop.

Police discovered a significant amount of illegal drugs that were being transported in a vehicle on July 5.

A Sicamous officer noticed a Hyundai SUV driving on Rauma Avenue with licence plates registered to a different vehicle. The officer stopped the vehicle, citing the violation as the reason, and conducted a search of the SUV that resulted in the seizure of over 80 grams of illegal drugs suspected to consist of fentanyl, cocaine and methamphetamine.

"Police located a drug scale, individually wrapped portions of drugs and other evidence to support the belief that the driver was trafficking in controlled substances," Sgt. Murray McNeil said in a media release. "This represents a significant drug seizure in the District of Sicamous which will impact the local drug trade."

The driver, a 38-year-old resident of Sicamous, was arrested and released from custody. RCMP are still investigating.
