A young man is learning his lesson after being caught going 115 km/h in a 50km/h zone.
Just after 9a.m. on the morning of June 14 an officer in a fully-marked vehicle recorded the 17-year-old going more than twice the speed limit on Stewart Road heading northbound in a Volkswagen Jetta.
He was given a ticket for excessive speed, resulting in a $368 fine. His car was also impounded for seven days.
鈥淭his type of driving behaviour is extremely dangerous, not only for inexperienced drivers but also for the cyclists that regularly use this route,鈥 said Sgt. Mark Booth with the 琉璃神社 Municipal Traffic Service.
鈥淭here has been an increase in speeding along Stewart Rd, since the new South Perimeter Way opened up, so you can expect a larger police presence in the area.鈥
