After a mediocre start to 2016, the Okanagan Athletics have kicked their B.C. Premier Baseball League season into high gear.

The A's completed a 12-game home stand in style on Sunday Elks Stadium, sweeping all four weekend games from the Parksville Royals.

The Athletics have won seven straight games overall to improve to 10-6 and into fourth spot in the 12-team PBL.

"Our pitching has done a really good job, our starters have been phenomenal," A's coach Evan Bailey said when asked about keys to his team's success. "We've played well defensively, and the top of our batting order has been on fire. We're seeing some good things happening right now."

In Saturday's opener, ace Matt Brodt fired a three-hitter and gave up just one earned run in a 4-2 win over the Royals. Brodt is 3-1 this season with 0.78 ERA. Markus Glowacki led the offense with two RBIs.

In Game 2, lead off hitter Sam Avila had two hits and four RBIs to pace the A's to a 7-2 win. Austin Brown went six innings for his second win of the spring.

On Sunday, Glowacki had two hits and two RBIs and Brendan Coulter scored three times in a 6-2 victory over Parksville. David Tongue was solid for six innings to get this third win of the season.

In the series finale, Brodt homered and had three RBIs as the A's completed the sweep with a 7-6 win in eight innings. Keaton Mandryk threw four innings of relief to pick up the win.

The Athletics will see if they can keep the momentum going on the road as they play their next 12 PBL games away from home.

This coming weekend, Okanagan will be in Abbotsford for four games against the Cardinals.
