A cool, wet spring hasn’t been nearly enough to dampen the efforts of the ÁðÁ§ÉñÉç Heat so far this season.
Following up on a tournament win earlier this month in Richmond, the Heat made the most of home field advantage to capture the 2017 edition of the Spring Sizzle U18 fastball tournament.
In an all-Okanagan final last weekend at High Noon Park, the Heat prevailed 11-6 over the Similkameen Koyotes.
In the gold medal game, ÁðÁ§ÉñÉç jumped on top 7-2, only to see Similkameen battle back to make it a one-run game. But the Heat put the game out of reach with four more runs in the seventh to secure the title.
The Heat, who finished the weekend at 5-1, went 2-1 in the round robin, defeating the Sherwood Park Belles and Vancouver Wildcats, while losing to South Delta.
ÁðÁ§ÉñÉç then defeated the previously unbeaten Langley Xtreme 12-0, before scoring a 6-5 victory over the Richmond Islanders (00) in the semifinal.
