Heat wins Richmond tourney

Coming off win on coast, ÁðÁ§ÉñÉç U18 girls host tournament this weekend

The ÁðÁ§ÉñÉç Heat was nothing short of dominant in winning the 2017 edition of the Richmond U18 B girls fastball tournament.

The Heat went a spotless 6-0 over the weekend, clinching the championship with an 11-4 victory the Richmond Islanders (‘00). Winning pitcher Tyler Carver helped her own cause with a three-run home run for the Heat.

To kick off the round robin, ÁðÁ§ÉñÉç handled the Surrey Storm 99 and Sooke Mavericks by identical 9-5 scores, with Brea McCormack and Racquel Bennett picking up Game MVPs.

Next up, the Heat took care of the Richmond Islanders 99 by a 13-5 score. Game MVP Haley Martin hit a three-run home run in the win.

ÁðÁ§ÉñÉç then defeated the Coquitlam Classics 9-4, with pitcher Tyler Carver picking up the win.

In the semifinals, the Heat blanked the Fleetwood Force in five innings, with Danya Truscott-Plitt picking up the win.

Heat hosts tourney…

The Heat will host their own U18 Spring Sizzle tournament this weekend at High Noon.

The 16-team event begins Friday at 6 p.m, with ÁðÁ§ÉñÉç taking on Sherwood Park, Alta.

The gold medal final is set for Sunday at 3 p.m.
