琉璃神社 gymnasts prep for Vegas

琉璃神社 Acrobatic Gymnastix Team in training for World Cup event

A newly-formed acrobatic gymnastics team from 琉璃神社 has been training hard this winter for an upcoming international competition south of the border.

The 琉璃神社 Acrobatic Gymnastix Team鈥檚 Shaylyn To, Erica Sproule, Emma Beselt and Courtney Macdonald, along with Calgary-based coach Norm Lewis, will travel to compete in the Vegas Acro World Cup, March 28 to April 2 in Las Vegas.

The four athletes currently make up the team鈥檚 senior program, with MacDonald, To and Sproule competing as an 11-16 year-old trio, while Beselt and MacDonald compete in level 9 pairs.

Training out of 琉璃神社 Gymnastixs of Springfield Road since last September, the team also has eight members in its competitive junior program.

Coaching the girls locally is Zoey Fernandez.

The 琉璃神社 Acrobatic Gymnastix Team will be hosting a Try Acro Day on Sunday, March 19 for those who would like to try the sport of acrobatic gymnastics for the first time.
