KWIC swimmers fast at AA provincials

Central Okanagan athletes won medals and set best times in Richmond.

Swimmers from the Central Okanagan brought home some hardware and plenty of best times from the B.C. AA provincials in Richmond.

A relatively small KWIC team (琉璃神社-West 琉璃神社 Intergrated Club) placed 29th out of 37 teams.

The 12-and-under boys (Keaton Russell, Noah Semashkewich, Ethan Gray and Arlo Kast) swam to a silver medal in the 4x50 free relay and a gold medal in the 4x50 medley relay.

The 14-and-under girls (Rachel McInnes, Olivia Courtenay, Brooklyn Semashkewich and Tayla Ingram) swam to a silver medal in the 4x50 medley relay, while the Girls Open 4x50 free relay (Brooklyn Parliament, Megan Elkin, Taylor Desrosier and Christina Wright) swam to gold.

The open medley relay relay (Taylor Desrosier, Paige Foster, Brooklyn Parliament and Megan Elkin) also swam to a gold medal.

Individually, Holden Berrisford led the way with 100 per cent best times, a gold medal in 200 & 400IM and a bronze in 100 fly. Holden also is a new qualifier for the AAA provincials July 6 to 9 in Kamloops.

Brandon Mullin followed that with gold in 400IM dropping 10 seconds, silver in 200 free and a bronze in 200IM.

Rachel McInnes swam to a gold in 100 free and bronze in 200 fly.

Keaton Russell swam to two silver medals in 100 & 200 back. Brooklyn Parliament swam to a gold medal in her 50 free and Breanna James swam to a silver medal in 200 free and became a new AAA provincial qualifier by taking right seconds off her 200 free.

Johnny Ekinci swam to bronze in 200 back , while Desmond Ducheck swam to 100 per cent best times.

Kodi Wiman, swimming at her first AA provincials swam to 100 per cent best times. Tayla Ingram took 16 seconds off her 800 free.

Other strong swims were had by: Paige Foster, Athina Merchx, Taylor Desrosier, Noah Semashkewich, Connor Berrisford, Sara Gray, Brooklyn Semashkewich, who dropped 12 seconds in her 200 fly, Megan Elkin, Ethan Gray, Arlo Kast, Nathaniel Hees, Lucy Hill, Jacklyn Pengilly, Clara Dickieson, Keagan Ingram, Madison Seeley, Olivia Courtenay and Quin Toyata.
