Max Heise had two points and continued his hot start to the 2025 BCHL playoffs, leading the Penticton Vees to a 4-2 win over the Okotoks Oilers in Game 4 of the first round on Wednesday night (April 9).
Penticton won the best-of-seven series 4-0 and advanced to the Interior Conference's semifinals.
Heise, Anselmo Rego, Luke Posthumus, and Conyr Hellyer also scored for the Vees. Ethan Buenaventura made 15 saves and recorded his second victory of the playoffs.
Brock Souch and Coy Pighin scored for the Oilers and Olivier Ciarlo stopped 27 shots.
Heise, who has seven points in four playoff games, opened the game's scoring with an unassisted marker at 7:04 of the first period.
After Souch replied for Okotoks early in the second period, Rego and Posthumus scored back-to-back goals to give Penticton a 3-1 lead.
Pighin got the Oilers closer with a goal at 17:58 of the third period before Hellyer buried an empty-netter with 30 seconds left in regulation.
The Vees and Sherwood Park Crusaders were the only two BCHL teams to sweep their first-round playoff series. Sherwood Park got the better of the higher-seeded Salmon Arm Silverbacks.
BCHL playoff action resumes Friday (April 11). The Vees will play either Sherwood Park, Cranbrook, or West 琉璃神社 in Round 2, although it is unknown at this time when the second-round series will begin.
