Photos: World's 'Prestige' curlers converge in Vernon, B.C.

The final day of play is Monday, Oct. 7

Curlers from all across the world descended upon the Vernon Curling Club (VCC), for the annual Prestige Hotels and Resorts Curling Classics.

"We will have 12 women's teams competing for about $18,000 in cash, and there will be 24 men's teams going after $32,000 in purse money," said former VCC manager Dave Merklinger.

The women's event wrapped up on Sunday, with Bobae Kang's Korean team beating Yujie Zhang's China, 3-2 in eight ends. The Vernon team of Ava Arndt finished fifth in Pool B, with a 1-4 record. 

As for the men, the playoff games will take place on Monday, with the final scheduled for 2:30 p.m. 

The Vernon team of Rob Nobert lost their final qualifying match on Sunday, falling to China's Xueqing Fei's, 5-1.

TJ Perepolkin, also from Vernon, finished the qualifying round winless.
