Pro arenacross tour returns to the SOEC in October

THE CANADIAN NATIONAL Arena Cross Tour powered by Rockstar Energy Drink is coming to the South Okanagan Events Centre on Oct. 29 for round 5 of the Canadian National Championships.

The best arenacross racers in North America are coming back.

Jetwerx International is bringing the to Penticton for round five on Oct. 29 after a successful debut last year.

Spectators watched top riders such as Chris Blose, Jacob Hayes, Brock Leitner, Canadian Cole Thompson and more battle in the South Okanagan Events Centre. Following the eight rounds, Thompson won the Lites Pro, while Hayes won AX Pro and the Clash for Cash.

This tour consists of an eight-round professional series, which includes an East and West Amateur National Arenacross Championship. Pro riders compete for a total cash payout of over $60,000, with over 20 amateur classes鈥 racing for their share of $25,000 worth of trophies, prizes and series awards.

鈥淲e are extremely excited to be coming back to Penticton and the SOEC for the second straight year,鈥 said Justin Thompson, CEO of Jetwerx International in a press release. 鈥淟ast season we had some of the most intense action of the whole tour inside the SOEC. With more teams and talent competing in 2016 it will be an edge of your seat entertainment for the whole family. 鈥

Dean Clarke, general manager of Spectra Venue Management, said this is a great event for racers and spectators.

鈥淲e had a lot of fun last year and we are excited to see them return to Penticton,鈥 said Clarke. 鈥淥ur goal has always been to create partnerships with great companies like Jetwerx International Inc., so that their events are successful and year after year, provide sustainable economic impact and great entertainment for our community.鈥

Clarke added having a well designed and built facility gives Spectra Venue Management multiple options of attracting a variety of events. It also allows them to do it economically and efficient. He said they have been able to have success and continue to strive to have sustainable events, which is important to the community.

The 2016 Canadian National Arenacross Tour is set to begin in Montreal, Que. on Oct. 1 and will be the opening round of the Pro National Series and the Eastern Amateur National Series. After Montreal, the series shifts to Sarnia, Ont., on Oct. 8, then Barrie, Ont., on Oct. 15, Moose Jaw, Sask., on Oct. 22 then wraps up in Calgary on Nov. 5 after stopping in Penticton.

鈥淲e are excited to be involved with Jetwerx and the Arenacross Tour,鈥 said Scott Spark, president of Royal Distributing. 鈥淥ur focus, as one of the main sponsors, will be on keeping the racer鈥檚 excited by giving them the opportunity to cash in on the Royal Distributing Hole shot award. We also plan to get the fans involved during half time with The Marin Bikes Half Time show presented by Royal Distributing.鈥

Tickets for the Canadian National Arenacross Tour are $18, $26 and $36 for adults and $10 for children 12 and under. A limited number of ticket packages are available. The Full Throttle Family Four Pack includes two adult tickets, two children鈥檚 tickets and a free $25 concession voucher for only $97. Bikes, Brews & Buds includes four adult tickets plus a free $25 concession voucher for only $104.
