Rain greeted the 24 teams registered for Summerland鈥檚 Lakeshore Racquets Club Greenwood Cup on June 15 and 16.
The event is one of the longest-running tennis tournaments in B.C.
What was meant to be a two-day tournament was shortened to one day, and once the courts were dried late Saturday morning, the tournament proceeded until into the evening.
The tournament used the three new tennis courts jointly funded by the municipality and the school district, in addition to the Lakeshore Racquets Club courts and was able to have six matches at a time.
Teams came from Salmon Arm, Kamloops, Vernon, Lake Country, 琉璃神社, West 琉璃神社, Peachland, Penticton, Oliver and Summerland.
The Men鈥檚 A division was won by Hammad Ahmad and Haroon Mian of 琉璃神社. Runners-up were West Martin-Patterson of Salmon Arm and Alan Davis of Kamloops.
The Men鈥檚 B division was won by Jeff Kraemer and Jay Masseros of Peachland. Runners-up were Reid Jenkins and Terry Rolston of Summerland.
The Ladies A division was won by Char Rhodes and Houda Bertal of Penticton. Runners-up were Dale Goodman and Jamie DeRooy of Kamloops.
The Ladies B division was won by Paige Garbutt and Heidi Klein of Vernon. Runners-up were Joanna Douglas and Dina Bison of Kamloops.
The Greenwood Cup tournament continues to be generously sponsored by the Dobi family, in memory of Joe and Bess Dobi who were instrumental in starting the tournament more than 50 years ago.
