Boxers from across the Okanagan will be chucking fists, as the third annual Ian Gibson Tribute Show will take place in Vernon, on Sunday, Sept. 21.

The show has been a success in the past in bringing boxing back into the city, and showcasing the talents of many young athletes, according to Brian Jones, president of the Vernon Boxing Club.

"Our club still thrives and provides support and training to youngsters and adults today," he said. "We are run completely by nationally certified boxing coach volunteers who dedicate time to helping the youth in the community."

The club is looking for sponsors to help cover the costs of the venue, so that revenue can go back to supporting the club.

Ian Gibson was the Chief of Officials in B.C. and a member of the B.C. Boxing Hall of Fame. The inaugural show was in 2022, to honour Gibson after he died in 2020.

The show in 2023 saw over 12 fights, with six local fighters competing in the Vernon Rec Centre Auditorium.

More information on the sponsorship opportunities for the show can be found by contacting Sylvia Maric at 250-880-8145, or the clubs
