Firefighters were out on the ice on Feb. 16

Penticton fire crews were out on Okanagan Lake, Feb.16, for ice rescue training.

The Penticton Professional Firefighters were seen practicing various technical rescues on the ice, near the marina.

This training serves as a reminder to those looking to talk a wander along the water鈥檚 edge this winter, 鈥淒on鈥檛 let a cool day turn into a cold plunge, stay off thin ice.鈥

With changing temperatures and unpredictable ice conditions, emergency response crews continue to urge the public to stay off all frozen lakes, stressing ice that may appear stable can quickly become hazardous, putting lives at risk.
