The 1973 Plymouth Gold Duster that was a beacon along the highway west of town for decades was auctioned off Thursday morning (April 4) for $9,250. That amount will be matched by Beekman Auctions, and the total of $18,500 will be donated to the Chilliwack Salvation Army.

The car had been on the auction lot since Feb. 27, as part of Beekman鈥檚 Spring 2024 Equipment Auction.

The final bidding day opened with at $5,250, with a flurry of activity in the final minutes and bidding increments of $250.

The website does not identify the bidders in any way, but there was a total of 66 bids.

The car has no engine, transmission or registration, and had been used as signage for Pick-a-Part auto wreckers for decades.
