New park to connect 琉璃神社鈥檚 Mission Greenway, Waterfront Walkway

The city has purchased a 1.8-acre waterfront lot at 3896 Truswell Road

A new beachfront park will connect 琉璃神社鈥檚 Mission Creek Greenway and the Waterfront Walkway.

Mayor Tom Dyas made the announcement on the city鈥檚 YouTube channel.

鈥淭he City of 琉璃神社 recently made a historic acquisition of a 1.8-acre waterfront lot at 3896 Truswell Road.鈥

The property, located at the mouth of Mission Creek, provides 340 feet of lakeshore, 220 feet along the creek, and views of Okanagan Lake.

鈥淚t also unlocks 400 feet of existing city walkway securing public access to the two-acre beachfront area commonly known as Secret Beach,鈥 Dyas added.

The property was purchased from the Truswell family.

鈥淭he acquisition of this property is truly a legacy for our city,鈥 Dyas noted. 鈥淚t鈥檚 an important step to ensure that 琉璃神社鈥檚 beautiful waterfront can be enjoyed by all for generations to come.鈥

The land is also an important environmental asset to the city, according to Derek Edstrom, partnerships and investment director.

鈥淢ission Creek is a key contributor to Okanagan Lakes鈥檚 quality and quantity.鈥

The new park is a cornerstone in the city鈥檚 plan to create a string of destination beach parks that are linked together by pathways and waterways, Edstrom added.
