The second phase of dangerous tree removal in relation to the McDougall Creek wildfire is underway at Rose Valley Regional Park in West 琉璃神社. 

From now until Nov. 22, contracted crews will be working along maintained trails and taking down marked trees damaged by the 2023 wildfires as part of recovery efforts.

During this time, the park is to remain closed, according to the Regional District of Central Okanagan (RDCO). The public is asked to remain out of the park and respect all barricades. Anyone who is caught trespassing can be fined $500.

鈥淲ith work underway to fall and remove danger trees that could pose a threat to human safety, it is important that the public remain out of the park," said RDCO's Manager of Parks, Capital Planning, and Asset Management Wayne Darlington. "This includes any recreational park users including walkers, hikers, runners and mountain bikers. The area is an active worksite and is extremely hazardous.  For the safety of the public, falling crews, and the efficiency of these operations, the public are reminded to not enter the park."
