Central Okanagan-Similkameen-Nicola Conservative MP Dan Albas says he will be running in the next federal election.

He made the announcement on his Facebook account.

鈥淥ver the past month, I鈥檝e received many well-meaning, sincere expressions of goodwill regarding my supposed retirement from provincial politics,鈥 Albas wrote. 鈥淗owever, there鈥檚 a small detail - it鈥檚 actually my long-time friend and colleague MLA Dan Ashton who announced his retirement after the next British Columbia election, set for this fall.鈥

Albas thanked Ashton for his years of service, first as a Penticton councillor and mayor, and then as an MLA with the BC Liberal Party, now the BC United Party.

Albas served under Ashton as a city councillor and later shared an office with him in Summerland when he became an MP.

鈥淚t鈥檚 amusing that we鈥檝e often been mistaken for each other due to sharing the same first name, initials, and office,鈥 he said.

Albas also thanked West 琉璃神社 MLA Ben Stewart, who is retiring from provincial politics this fall.

鈥淚鈥檓 grateful that voters have supported individuals like MLA Ashton and MLA Stewart, who have consistently advocated for efficient, common-sense approaches to our work, with these office co-locations being one tangible example.鈥

The next federal election is scheduled for October 2025.
