ÁðÁ§ÉñÉç is ready for speedy racers and risk-takers as this weekend is the 65th Knox Mountain Hill Climb.

The motorsport racing event is expected to welcome racers from all over the world. This is the longest running paved hill climb racing event in North America at 3.5 kilometres and climbs 800 feet, featuring narrow and sharp turns.

During the event, racers participate in time trials as they race up the hill. Last year, the fastest racers were under two minutes. The course record, which also took place last year, is 1:34.903, held by Aran Cook from Edmonton, Alberta.

Because of this event, the base of Knox Mountain, Crown Lookout and Knox Mountain Drive will be closed to the public other than ticket holders starting on Thursday, May 16 until Monday, May 20. The closure starts at 12 p.m. on Thursday as set-up starts. The park will remain open to visitors but parking restrictions will be in effect:

  • Main parking area: closed from Friday, May 17 until Monday, May 20.
  • Poplar Point Drive parking area: closed from Thursday, May 16 at 5 p.m. until Monday, May 20 at noon.
  • North side of Broadway Avenue: parking restrictions in effect from Thursday, May 16 at 5 p.m. until Monday, May 20.

Additionally, the disc golf course and the dog park will be closed as well.
