Saving energy and the environment is important to one local developer.

The rooftops of 590 KLO Rd, which houses Shane Worman鈥檚 head office, along with 4624 Lakeshore Rd, a building occupied by Quality Greens and T-Bones, both feature large solar arrays.

Worman said in a press release he has always been interested in solar power and when designing the Lakeshore building with its south-facing angled roof he saw a perfect opportunity to explore the technology.

He found solar has a reasonable payback period while providing an opportunity to show environmental leadership.

鈥淔or us, it鈥檚 about trying new things and I believe solar energy is the way of the future. It鈥檚 the cleanest energy that I鈥檓 aware of,鈥� he said.

鈥淲e do a lot of development so if we could try it on one and show to ourselves and our clients that it was worth doing then we鈥檇 be on to something new that is a benefit to the clients.鈥�

Worman said he鈥檚 received positive from the public, with many people commenting it鈥檚 something they鈥檝e always wanted to try.

鈥淭hat was a motivation for us, to be that thought leader,鈥� he said. 鈥淚 hope we will be an example to others, and that they will also look at systems because of that.鈥�

Terratek Energy Systems installed both solar systems.
