For the second time in a week, a West 琉璃神社 Warrior has left the team to go to the Ontario Hockey League (OHL).
After Jack Pridham left for the Kitchener Rangers on Nov. 11, Callum Hughes has followed in his footsteps as he's leaving the Warriors to join the Erie Otters.
Hughes scored 32 goals and added 24 assists to total 56 points in 74 games for the Warriors.
The Westwood, MA native is committed to Boston University for the 2025-26 season.
Pridham, Hughes, and many other BCHL have left the league after the NCAA lifted its restriction on Canadian Hockey League (CHL) players earlier this month. This gives young players more opportunities to explore scholarships and schooling outside Canada. For both Pridham and Hughes having already committed to U.S. schools, this now gives them the chance to play in the CHL (either WHL, OHL, or QMJHL) before going to play post-secondary, something that wasn't available until this rule change.
