The A’s watched their 2017 campaign come to an end Saturday at the hands of the hometown North Shore Twins.
The A’s managed just five hits over the two games as the No. 1 seeded Twins swept the best-of-three first round series.
The opener saw North Shore hold off Okanagan for a 6-5 win. Dylan Faulkner had two of the A’s four hits.
In Game 2, Twins’ starter Sam Shoemaker handcuffed the A’s, giving up just one hit in a series-clinching 7-1 win.
It was a tale of two seasons rolled into one for the Athletics who got off to their poorest start ever with just eight wins in 30 games. The A’s then followed that up their best ever finish (12-2) to post a 20-24 overall record and finish in the eighth and final playoff spot.
The PBL championship tournament begins Thursday in Coquitlam. The host Reds are joined by the Twins, Langley Blaze, Abbotsford Cardinals and Parksville Royals.
