琉璃神社 rowers contend at provincials

Women鈥檚 doubles team from 琉璃神社 Rowing Club narrowly missed medal in Victoria

The 琉璃神社 Rowing Club had four athletes competing at the B.C. Championships.

The 琉璃神社 Rowing Club turned in a respectable showing at the B.C. Rowing Championships this month at Elk Lake in Victoria.

Nicole Samuelson and Jocelyn Carmichael finished a close fourth in the final of the women鈥檚 under-19 double, just 1.8 seconds out of third place. The 琉璃神社 duo finished the 1850m event in eight minutes 1.96 seconds.

The 12-team race was won by the Victoria City Rowing Club team who will represent B.C. at this year鈥檚 Canada Summer games.

Also representing 琉璃神社 were Claire Benade and Toni Vandenbrink who finished fifth in B final of the women鈥檚 open double.

The 琉璃神社 Rowing Club also had four athletes competing in the women鈥檚 open quad event where they finished in fifth.

The 琉璃神社 team is coached by Dan Thompson.
