Vernon roundabout drives 8-month long detour

This and other capital works projects on display at March 6 open house
concept
A new roundabout is coming to Pleasant Valley Road and 39th Avenue.

Motorists, and pedestrians, will have to go the round-a-bout way through 39th Avenue and Pleasant Valley Road.

Construction of the newest roundabout at the East Hill intersection is driving an eight-month long closure.

Traffic will be detoured around the intersection starting March 10, until November.

Further north, construction is also underway on Pleasant Valley Road at 46th Avenue.

The work is a continuation of a multi-use path from Pleasant Valley to 20th Street, via 46th Avenue.

The $1.4 million project was started in May 2024 and is expected to be complete by May 30, 2025. It is funded by gas tax monies.

Meanwhile the ongoing reconstruction of 32nd Avenue and 38th Street (in front of Charlie's Store), which started early 2023, is expected to be completed June 30, 2025.

Another roundabout is scheduled to start construction April at Silver Star Road and Phoenix Drive.

Learn more about these and other capital works projects at the city's open house Thursday, March 6, 4:30-6:30 p.m. at the Vernon Recreation Centre.
